Motorist critical after unusual accident

Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER 24, reports:
A woman, believed to be in her 50s, was left critically injured yesterday afternoon when she crashed her light motor vehicle into a concrete pillar in an underground parking lot at a shopping centre on the corners of Leslie and Douglas Road in Fourways.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the woman lying in her vehicle, which was smashed against the pillar.
ER24 rescue medics carefully extricated the woman from the vehicle and assessed her, finding that she had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics treated the woman and provided her with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the woman was transported to Life Fourways for further treatment.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities will be investigating further.
