Tourism industry, be warned against this con-artist!

Mrs Rosemary Cloete-Anderson of Stonehaven, and also chairperson of the Emfuleni Tourism Association and Deputy Chairperson of FEDHASA Inland, writes:

On Tuesday, September 5, a lady came into Stonehaven on Vaal’s Front Office/Reception area and asked for a table of 15 to enjoy lunch. The guests had come down from Tembisa by taxi. The 15 people had lunch and beverages. When it came to paying the bill the following was established:-

* During the lunch she had said she just needs to go and pick up two more people in Vereeniging.

She asked the taxi driver to take her to Vereeniging where she picked up the two other people.

She then asked him to take her to Vaal Mall for her to pop in quickly to get the money to pay him. He waited for her for three hours – she never returned.

* The taxi driver then came back to Stonehaven where the guests were still waiting for her return too.

* Short story is that she never returned.

* All the people in her group had each paid her R350 to R400 for a job – which they supposedly were going to get in the Vaal.

* She did not pay the taxi driver.

* She has not provided jobs for the people she took money from in order to do this.

* Stonehaven was not paid for the bill – the people she brought down here were not able to pay for any of the food/the bill.

* It appears she was preying on people who were destitute for work.

* One of the people in the group said the woman worked at Tembisa Clinic.

The taxi driver, the job-seekers and Stonehaven have opened SAP criminal cases against her.

Case Number: 134/09/2017

Please, if the woman in the photo comes to your venue, call the police.
