DA to march against Emfuleni’s Mayor Simon Mofokeng

Emfuleni Mayor Simon Mofokeng

Tomorrow, Tuesday 14 November 2017, the Provincial Leader of the DA in Gauteng,
John Moodey MPL, will lead a march against Emfuleni’s Mayor, Simon
Mofokeng. Moodey will be joined by DA Vaal Regional Chair and Midvaal Executive Mayor,
Bongani Baloyi, DA Gauteng Constituency Head: Emfuleni North, Kingsol Chabalala
MPL and DA Emfuleni Caucus Chair, Cllr Dady Mollo.
The DA leadership will be joined by DASO VUT and DA Youth activists in calling for the
removal of Mofokeng as Mayor. The DA not only exposed Mofokeng’s sexual
grooming allegations to the media, but also other service delivery failures, financial
mismanagement and alleged corrupt and dodgy dealings in the municipality.
“We will march in solidarity with all victims of sexual abuse and violence across the
province, especially those who have been robbed of their innocence and dignity. Today marks 15 days since the ANC placed Mofokeng on “special leave” after he was accused of sexually grooming a 14-year-old girl. Emfuleni remains Mayor-less as the ANC continues to dither on this matter.
“The DA will be counting down each day Simon Mofokeng remains in his position as Mayor as the ANC refuses to fire the alleged “sex-pest”,” the DA said in a media release.
“It is high time that the ANC takes decisive action against him. Emfuleni deserves a new beginning with a leader that will serve the community and that will be proactive, responsive and responsible.”
Details of the march are as follows:
Tuesday, 14 November 2017
Time: 09:00
Venue: From Pasteur Boulevard, to the Emfuleni Local Municipality Buildings at 27 Frikkie Meyer Boulevard, Vanderbijlpark.
