VEREENIGING. – On March 23 and 24 the Vereeniging Operatic and Dramatic Society (VODS) will take music lovers back in time to the Roaring 20’s, when the Charleston was hip and Al Capone was hot. The 1920s in the United States were called “roaring” because of the exuberant, freewheeling popular culture of that decade.

The Roaring Twenties was a time when many people defied prohibition, indulged in new styles of dancing and dressing, and rejected many traditional standards.

VODS will bring that era alive with “Cocktails and Cabaret”, taking place at 19:00 on March 23 and 24 at the Tienie van Wyk VODS Clubhouse, Benghazi Street, Vereeniging. The cost (which includes a 2-course meal) is R120 for adults; R100 for pensioners and R40 for children under 12. The dress code is 1920’s attire.

Seats are limited so book now to avoid disappointment. Contact Wendy (076 555 5841) or Kimberly (082 456 5437) for more information.
