SHARPEVILLE.- Lekoa Atheltics Club in conjunction with Sharpeville Foundation will host the 2nd Annual Sharpeville Youth Alive 5km Fun Run on June 16 at George Thabe Stadium. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Lekoa Athletics Club Chairman, Sandile “Malome” Ncala. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Ncala said this year’s Fun Run is expected to attract more participants, taking into consideration that it will be the second year they host this event.

Some of the partners that are set out to make this event a success include Mahata Mmoho, Bataung Memorials and Impact Productions. Ncala said this event is for charity purposes and he urges all participants to bring or contribute food parcels on the day of the event. He said last year they donated sanitary pads to the rural schools, this emanating from the same event. Vaal Echoes of Love will be the organisation to benefit from this year’s event.

“Look, as much as this event is about the Fun Run, the main objective is to raise awareness of the needy people in this region. It is not about winning but Ubuntu, that is to take care of the community members who are in need of our help. I have no doubt that this time around we can expect many participants to make this event a success. As Lekoa Athletics Club we want to thank our partners in advance for the role they play in the community,” said Ncala.

Ncala said it is encouraging to see local business people and organisation partnering with sports and making a difference in the Sedibeng community.
