VANDERBIJLPARK.- The Sedibeng region hosted a successful Provincial Winter Schools Ball Games at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark recently.
These Provincial winter ball games were for primary and secondary schools. The Winter Schools Ball Games saw schools in Gauteng battling against each other throughout the day with the main purpose being to select learners that will represent Gauteng in the National Winter Ball Games. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng District Sports Coordinator, Nkaoli Botsane hailed the games a success. Botsane said that as the organising committee they have worked tirelessly to make these provincial games a success.
“We want to thank all our partners, particularly the Gauteng Department of Sports and Recreation. Look, there will always be challenges but, at the end of the day, sports was the
winner regardless of who was not happy. However, the biggest challenge was receiving documents from some schools. This is a clear indication that there was no proper communication from others areas because some schools didn’t have proper documents,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport. His sentiments were echoed by the Gauteng Sedibeng Sports and Recreation Promotion Officer, Nkosinathi Nolusu, who also hailed the games as a success. “The games went well and the objective of selecting the provincial team that will represent us at national level was achieved. “The games created a platform for our kids to showcase their talents. We need to revive Wednesday leagues at schools and we also need to encourage inter-class competitions which will bring back competiveness within our children,” said Nolusu.
