SEDIBENG. – The Safa Sedibeng SAB League for 2018/2019 is expected to kick-start in the first week of September. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by League Coordinator, Mandla Dipanyekga.
Dipanyekga told Sedibeng Ster Sport they expect the teams to start registering players sometime next week.

He said this season they anticipate a competitive league, taking into consideration that last season they failed to produce an ABC League team after the league champions NWU Vaal failed to gain promotion.”

The league will start with the Nedbank Cup which is set to kick off on August 19 and 26. “This season is going to be interesting because all the teams will want to be crowned the league champion come the end of the season. For example, the past season was very tough with NWU Vaal FC, but they eventually became the winners,” said Dipanyekga.

Dipanyekga also took the opportunity to welcome the new babies on the block SUBS FC and Matlebe FC who will campaign in the Safa Sedibeng SAB League in the new season. The two teams come from the Lesedi Local Football Association and Emfuleni Local Football Association respectively, while South United FC and Vaal Academy were relegated to a lower division after they finished second and bottom of the Safa Sedibeng SAB League log at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Safa Sedibeng SAB League teams have been involved in the pre-season friendly matches in preparation for the new season.
