SEDIBENG.- Nicholas Mpho Moloung, otherwise known as ‘Mbazo’, is the latest player from Sedibeng to make his professional debut in the Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The Sharpeville-born defender made his professional debut for Polokwane City when his side lost 1 – 0 to Black Leopards in a PSL match recently.

In 2014 Sedibeng Ster Sport predicted Motloung’s career in football and described him as the next Lucas Radebe.

He was the playing for Vaal Milano U/17 when he featured in Sedibeng Ster as the most promising defender to have come from Sedibeng.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Motloung said it was always his dream to play in top-flight football. At one stage he was linked to Ajax Cape Town but the move never materialised. However, his break came when he joined Kaizer Chiefs development.

“I’m excited to be playing in one of the biggest leagues in the world – Absa Premier League – and I can only improve as a player.

I want to thank Polokwane City management and coaching staff for having faith in me and I won’t disappoint them.

It is all about hard work and I work hard at training,” said Motloung.

Before he graduated to the senior team, Motloung was one of the best defenders in the MDC League and it came as no surprise when Polokwane City signed him for their first team. Speaking to his amateur coach – Tebello “Benza” Kheswa – he said at a young age Motloung was already clearly destined for a great future.

“Look, I don’t have doubt, Mbazo is a national asset and he will be playing for Bafana Bafana in the near future. I worked with the boy from a young age and I can tell you he is a hard worker and it came as no surprise when we promoted him to play for our SAB League teams at a young age,” said Kheswa.
