S’burg entrepreneur receives ‘coffee kickstart’ from Shoprite

Sasolburg resident Nyakallo Mokoena making a good living by supplying coffee and tea to various businesses and coffee shops in town.

SASOLBURG. – A cup of coffee forms part of many a morning routine, but for Nyakallo Mokoena it is his life.
Nyakallo opened a coffee shop in Maboneng in 2017, but due to financial constraints and fierce competition, he had to close the shop. Giving up on his dream, however, was not an option.
Nyakallo recently started Mcofana, a roastery that supplies coffee and tea to various businesses and coffee shops in Sasolburg. He also operates a mobile coffee bar so that people can experience his coffee anywhere.
He is one of 36 small business owners who received a cash injection and marketing support valued at over R70 000 as part of Shoprite’s Hustle competition. The competition was open to all small business owners with an annual turnover of less than R1 million.
Nyakallo’s passion is not only coffee. He wants to touch people’s spirits and inspires them to always strive for more, and therefore his slogan is ‘a cup of grind’.
With the boost received from Shoprite, he hopes to buy a coffee-roasting machine that will help him expand his business further.
