SEBOKENG. – The African National Congress (ANC) Sedibeng Region said that it was disgusted by the visit of DA Gauteng Premier Candidate, Solly Msimanga, to Sebokeng recently.

The party said that the visit was ill-conceived and was another attempt to shy away from the problems Msimanga is facing at home in the City of Tshwane where, “There are serious problems emanating from the embezzlement of funds, corrupt allocation of tenders and employment of under-qualified political associates.”

It further said that this visit was a desperate bid of the DA to blind the communities of Midvaal to the poor services they have been receiving from the acclaimed ‘best municipality in Gauteng’.

“The majority of Midvaal communities who happen to be poor and African are still to taste the fruits of this ‘best municipality’ that has been engulfed in unending service delivery protests from the various communities of Midvaal who have been patiently waiting for services.”

The ANC Sedibeng called on Msimanga to visit Pils Farms, Boitumelo, Dipereng, Makokong, Mamello, Difariking, Seporong, Plot 100 and Plot 135 that fall under Midvaal if indeed his listening tour was to seriously give an honest hearing and show care for the poor and the dispossessed.

ANC Sedibeng further said it would also be beneficial to the DA as he is on an ‘election cruise’ that Msimanga visits the many occupants of the plots to which Midvaal executive mayor Bongani Baloyi’s administration has “illegally cut their water and electricity and sent out threatening letters for legal action should they not pay the R 800 for the delivery of the ‘red letter’.

“We call upon you to also visit the areas which fall under the DA Midvaal municipality where people are treated as second-class citizens in a municipality that clearly has two faces of socio-economic life: the one being white and rich while the other remains black and poor.

“This is where a toilet is in the yard of a DA member and the entire community is expected to share it.”
