VANDERBIJLPARK.- It was action galore at the Shakespeare Stadium in Vanderbijlpark when Safa Sedibeng SAB League teams battled it out in the Nedbank Cup elimination round over the weekend. South United FC from Orange Farms will represent Sedibeng at the Nedbank Cup provincial play-offs. This was after the Safa Sedibeng Nedbank champions beat Ghetto Seven 5-3 on penalties. This mouth-watering encounter was decided on penalties after a goalless draw in 90 minutes.
It was end to end stuff with both sides playing counter attack football for the better part of the 90 minutes. However, Ghetto Seven FC can only blame themselves for the defeat as they created clear scoring chances but failed to convert them into goals. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, newly appointed Safa Sedibeng League coordinator Mandla “Sjijo” Dipanyekga congratulated South United FC as it is the team that will be representing Sedibeng on provincial level.
“As Safa Sedibeng we wish to congratulate South United FC and we have no doubt that they will hoist the Sedibeng flag high and make us proud. However, I would also like to thank all the teams for honouring the fixtures despite some challenges. I also wish to take this opportunity to thank Safa Sedibeng executive committee for appointing me as the league coordinator and I’m looking forward to contribute to make this league a success,” he concluded.
