Vaal Sports Festival takes the Vaal Triangle by storm

The BBSA Sedibeng Bodybuilding Championships also supplied the spectators with enough eye candy. According to DJ Slater, the mastermind behind the Vaal Sports Fest, 139 athletes participated in the 19 divisions. “Although this is slightly less than last year the quality especially in the men’s bodybuilding divisions was the highest I have seen in many years. We have selected a team of 48 athletes to represent Sedibeng at the South African Championships, which will be held in Rustenburg in September,” said Slater.

Local lad makes Orlando Pirates debut at 16

This Sebokeng-based young superstar came in as a sub when Pirates played a 1 – all draw against Highlands Park in the opening match of the 2018/19 season at Orlando Stadium over the weekend. Many describe the youngster as the future of Orlando Pirates and a fans’ darling.

Buthelezi retains his IBO title

Buthelezi is one of the local sports stars who have been featuring in Sedibeng Ster Sports pages since he was in amateur boxing. He was Sedibeng Ster Sports Star of The Year finalist five year ago alongside his homeboy Bongani “Dancing Rasta” Mahlangu, who is also a professional boxer.

Local lad scores seven goals in international tournament

Some Sedibeng players who formed part of the South Africa Tricolor Team, both boys and girls, were Freez Goolam, Funekile Mofokeng, Nhlanhla Mkhonza, Thando Nhlapo and Kutlwano Chale. Safa Sedibeng Regional Executive Officer, Beauty Molise was the South African Tricolor team’s manager.

Pekwa All Stars matter laid to rest

The much publicised Pekwa All Stars FC case was laid to rest when the team was allowed to participate in the Emfuleni Local Football Association’s (ELFA) streams play offs last week. These streams play-offs which took place at Shakespeare Stadium last Thursday involved Vereeniging Old Boys FC, SUBS FC and Pekwa All Stars FC.
