Transport Minister Blade Nzimande has announced that 510 people died on South African roads over the Easter holidays. This is a 14% increase from last year’s figure of 449.
It is said that the two men pursued their act of criminality with the assistance of a twenty-year old female learner based at the same school.
All four branches (Sebokeng, Evaton, Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging) decided not to work on the day as part of their protest to force management to give in to their requests.

Jabulane Patose (55) has suffered a severe stroke that affects half his body and he can’t walk properly. He was trying to obtain the R55 000 allegedly owed to him by Emfuleni Local Municipality, ELM.
“The municipality currently owes Rand Water millions for water supplied. After several meetings, where the minister was also involved, officials resolved to hold Rand Water hostage, demanding that valves be opened immediately. Workers at Rand Water were trapped in the building until the municipal reservoirs filled up at about 14:00 hours. They decided to vacate the gates only once water was running out of the tap,” said Mollo, adding that this a very dangerous precedent set by the ANC management with their actions.
“Seeing my brother’s body being exhumed has been the most traumatic and painful experience. We thought this would give the family some closure but it has just gone from bad to worst. Someone must have answers as to why our family had to go through this.”
A charge of crime injuria has since been lodged by the acting Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), Penny Sengoatsi with the Vanderbijlpark police.
Unconfirmed rumours made by the protesters are that four other people were killed since the beginning of the strike. An anonymous worker said that the victims were casual workers.
